Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

This position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of hospital systems and equipment to include essential utilities, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning systems, critical life support systems including medical air and gases and routine facility upkeep. This position serves in a lead capacity that assists management in formulating solutions to operations problems and provide technical support to the Engineering staff in all areas of facility maintenance. This position is also self-directing and self-initiated and must demonstrate excellent team building skills, communication to our customers, vendors and management.

Essential Functions

  • Performs and coordinates daily work order assignments with the Maintenance staff
  • Coordinates activities and assignments of contractors assuring that they are meeting all hospital standards and guidelines and completion of work specified.
  • Initiates coaching and instructions to employees in a supportive manner according to Human Resources policies, in a timely manner.
  • Assists with coordinating training sessions to keep Department personnel current in hospital changes and developments in the field.
  • Advises supervisor of workload in a timely way to control overtime. Overtime for responsible staff does not exceed the department standard set by budget.
  • Assist in pricing and coordination of construction projects.
  • Monitors customers request and updates work orders routinely.
  • Ensures completion of inspections on all mechanical and Electrical systems and associated equipment according to established procedures completing log sheets, checklists and PM sheets as required.
  • Ensures completion of required documentation in reference to mechanical and electrical systems as required by federal, state and regulatory agencies.
  • Completes required documentation in reference to mechanical systems as required by federal, state and regulatory agencies.
  • Safe handling/disposal / packaging for Transport of Pharmaceutical Waste/ Hazardous Materials/Bio- Hazardous Regulated Medical Waste.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or High School GED required.

Licensure and Certifications
