Type of Position:

This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 4 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.

Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major automotive manufacturer to hire a Maintenance Supervisor for our Stamping Department in Wentzville, MO. This facility operates high-tonnage press systems with robotic loading/unloading to produce stamped metal components such as fenders, doors, hoods, and roofs. The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee tool and die support, troubleshoot press equipment, and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient production operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance activities in the stamping department, with a focus on tool and die operations and press troubleshooting
  • Oversee and direct a multi-trade workforce, including electricians, machine repairmen, and die makers
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
  • Implement and support corporate safety policies, plant housekeeping standards, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and other departments to provide cross-coverage and maintain operational flexibility
  • Work with Maximo to manage maintenance work orders and track equipment repairs
  • Provide training, mentorship, and development opportunities for skilled trades personnel
  • Assist in planning and managing construction or maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to schedule and quality requirements
  • Enforce Local and National Labor agreements and maintain a positive, productive relationship with union-represented employees

Skills, Education, Experience Required:

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering a strong plus
  • Minimum 2 years of automotive manufacturing experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in metalworking, tool and die, or similar environments
  • Proficiency in problem solving and root cause analysis, with the ability to develop and execute corrective action plans
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, press operations, and robotic automation (Fanuc robots preferred)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and maintenance management systems (Maximo preferred)
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, direct, and evaluate a skilled trades team

Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:

  • Metalworking background from manufacturing or small-shop environments
  • Experience with high-tonnage press systems, vacuum generators, suction cups, and automated material handling
  • Electrical/mechanical engineering degree
  • Familiarity with UAW environments and labor agreements

Work Environment / Other Info:

  • On-site role with flexibility to work any shift: 1st shift: 5:45 AM 3:00 PM CST, 2nd shift: 1:45 PM 11:00 PM CST, 3rd shift: 9:45 PM 7:00 AM CST
  • MondaySaturday schedule, with Sundays worked every other week
  • This role will have regular overtime (10 to 20 hours per week). All hours worked beyond 40 in a week will be compensated at 1.5x the regular hourly rate. Any hours worked on a Sunday after reaching 40 hours for the week will be compensated at 2.0x the regular hourly rate.
  • Offer may be contingent upon a background check, fit for work physical and a drug screen (drug screen would NOT include cannabis).
