Seattle Public Utilities Watershed Maintenance Division is seeking a Forest Maintenance Worker at our Cedar Falls Watershed (1-hour from Seattle)!

Forest Maintenance Workers are an integral part of Watershed Operations, an inclusive, adaptable team that is responsible for performing a variety of skills in forest road improvements and maintenance, reforestation, habitat restoration, and the building and maintenance of the watershed infrastructure. Successful candidates will enjoy working with their hands and a variety of equipment in an outdoor setting in varied climates and terrain in the Cascade Mountains.   • Build, maintain, install and repair wooden, steel, and concrete bridges, roads, culverts, fences, posts, and related facilities.
  • Clear forest roads and facilities of brush and fallen timber by use of brush saws, chainsaws and other tools.
  • Work closely with heavy equipment operators as a ground person, guiding excavation and assisting in grade preparations.
  • Inspect watershed assets.
  • Perform reforestation, stream restoration and habitat improvement activities.

Two years' experience in forestry, logging, road construction and maintenance, or closely related heavy outdoor work and at least two years of general construction experience (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Must be available to work all shifts, nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Required to work outdoors in all types of weather and terrain.
  • Respond to emergency conditions resulting in overtime with little or no advance notices.

License and Certification

A Washington State Driver's License is required.

The full salary range for this position is $41.15 - $44.33 per hour.

Background Check
