The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for the implementation of the goals of Catholic education as outlined in The Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools (Archbishop Michael Miller):

Position: General maintenance worker

General Description: The General Maintenance Worker will be responsible for the repairing and maintenance of machines and mechanical equipment campus wide. Additional skills required include painting and drywall work, flooring, plumbing and electrical including HVAC systems. In the event of an emergency, he/she may be called to support necessary tasks in association with that emergency. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below; however, management may identify other responsibilities of the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform maintenance service or repairs in one or more skill areas including plumbing, electrical, painting and drywall, carpentry, machine and equipment servicing and preventative maintenance. Some of the tasks involved may be but are not limited to changing light bulbs, installing paper dispenser units, changing HVAC filters, changing and or adjusting locks on doors, unclogging toilets and urinals, changing out sink faucets, painting and drywall work as well as any other tasks not requiring a licensed skilled trades person or journeyman.

· Complies with all Diocesan and Bishop Lynch safety and risk management policies and procedures

· Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures

· Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments

· Identifies and corrects unsafe working conditions

· Required to participate in the Diocese of Dallas “Safe Environment Program”

· Will be utilizing basic cleaning and other chemicals

· Adherence to all OSHA and related local safety requirements

· Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated

· May assist in training, assigning and checking the work of lower-level employees including the organization and daily overseeing of Summer Student Worker Program

· Will drive a utility cart both gas and electric powered

· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge/Experience:

· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred

· 2 or more years of related experience

Skills/Aptitude:

· Ability to present self in a highly professional manner to others and understands that honesty and ethics are essential

· Ability to maintain a positive attitude

· Ability to communicate with co-workers and other departments with professionalism and respect

· Ability to maintain a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers and school administration and faculty

· Must be able to work well alone and in a team environment

· Ability to work well under pressure

· Must have a high attention to detail

· Must have basic phone and computer skills (email, text, etc.)

· Excellent oral and written communication skills and solid organizational skills

License:

· Holds appropriate license/certification for specific work in Dallas, Texas

· A valid driver's license may be required

General:

· Ability to work a flexible schedule

· Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays when necessary

· Maturity of judgement and behavior

· Maintains high standards for work performed

· Must comply with any dress code/uniform requirements

Physical:

· Significant walking or other means of mobility

· Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)

· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and or pull and frequently lift 50 pounds or more

Working Conditions:

· Will work in both indoor and outdoor conditions

· Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud

· Wears protective clothing and or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or governmental regulations
