POSITION SUMMARY:

The Powered Support Systems Mechanic repairs, maintains, operates, and certifies Aircraft Arresting Systems (AAS) IAW Technical Order Series 35E8 and AFI 32-1043 and maintain IAW applicable Air Force publications.

TYPICAL DUTIES: 1. *Maintains aircraft arresting systems, including electrical, hydraulic, rewind, and pneumatic systems, and other electronic components.2. *Installs, removes, and operates electrical power generating and control systems for ground support equipment. 3. *Maintains, modifies, and repairs electrical power generating and control systems and associated equipment. 4. *Performs inspections and interprets findings to determine corrective action.5. *Identifies and records engine and generator malfunctions6. *Uses precision test equipment, troubleshoots malfunctions, and inspects parts for excessive wear and other conditions.7. *Removes, repairs, and replaces defective power generating equipment components.8. Maintains all records on maintenance, inspection, and lubrications on Aircraft Arresting Systems for review by the Fire Department (FD).9. Maintains a daily log on all findings, observations, and occurrences that deal with the Aircraft A1Testing System; logs this information according to Biggs AAF procedures and transfer to the system status board.10. *Inspects and replaces gauges and meters.11. *Bench checks components and subassemblies. 12. *Tests and calibrates repaired items. 13. *Reviews performance data and maintenance records to determine adequacy of maintenance. 14. *Responds to emergency calls after normal work hours. 15. *Frequent travel between facilities is required. 16. *Ensures PRIDE safety policies and procedures are followed. 17. *Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. * Denotes Essential Job Function

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess at least Eighteen (18) months of experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories. Skill in servicing, repairing, and maintaining powered support equipment. Ability to troubleshoot malfunctions and determine causes of mechanical problems. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and components related to electrical power production equipment. Skill in troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, or rebuilding diesel or gasoline engines, generators, starter motors, carburetors, and other related equipment. Ability to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to make repairs and modifications. Ability and experience in prioritization of completing work tasks. Knowledge of design and installation of power and lightning grounding schemes and electrical power distribution techniques.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

High School Diploma or GED Technical/other training

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED:

The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements.

Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees must have the ability to perform the following

physical demands for extended periods of time with or without assistance:

Maneuvering to and around equipment Bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching Lifting and moving equipment up to 50 pounds Climbing ladders or step stools Monitoring gauges, controls, and/or computer systems

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed at a customers location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
