Machine Tool Electrician

Location: Warren, MI

Pay Rate: $2528 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)

Long term contract

Position Overview

The Machine Tool Electrician is responsible for the installation, debugging, and maintenance of electrical systems in industrial machine tools. This role requires hands-on experience with medium-complexity projects, a strong knowledge of electrical systems, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Electrical Supervisor to ensure project requirements are met safely, efficiently, and in accordance with customer and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Independent Work & Quality: Execute electrical tasks on assigned projects with minimal direction and consistent quality, meeting or exceeding expectations.

- Equipment Installation & Support:

- Assist Electrical Supervisor with disassembly, packing, shipping, and installation of equipment at customer facilities.

- Support supervisors in addressing concerns, issues, and requirements across all project phases.

- Technical Proficiency:

- Proficient in using electrical meters for debugging tooling.

- Troubleshoot and debug hardwire circuits.

- Read, interpret, and update electrical diagrams and E-BOM summaries; submit updates weekly.

- Order non-BOM materials for job builds as required.

- Documentation & Reporting:

- Maintain accurate records and documentation.

- Update and communicate project timelines and open issues.

- Safety & Compliance:

- Follow company safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.

- Identify and report any safety or environmental concerns.

- Customer & Team Collaboration:

- Layout electrical equipment (such as panels, weld controllers, panel views) as per system perimeter requirements.

- Familiarize with and adhere to customer specifications.

- Participate in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

- Site Work & Travel:

- Expected to travel to customer sites for equipment installation and troubleshooting.

- Maintain a clean and organized work area; assure proper PPE and tool usage.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Proficient with electrical meters, debugging, and troubleshooting machines.

- Ability to read and interpret complex electrical diagrams, layouts, and control drawings.

- Solid understanding of project timelines and material management.

- Effective communicatorable to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

- Able to solve complex practical problems and present solutions clearly to team members and clients.

- Skilled in mathematical concepts related to industrial electrical work (geometry, trigonometry, ratios, etc.).

- Professional in adhering to safety, environmental, and quality standards.

- Self-directed, reliable, and committed to achieving deadlines and project goals.

- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

- Ability to stand, walk, reach, climb, kneel, and crouch frequently.

- Lift and move up to 10 lbs regularly, and up to 25 lbs occasionally.

- Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

- Exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and electrical hazards.

- Occasional working at heights; reasonable accommodations will be made for disabilities as needed.

Education & Experience

- One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or

- Five (5) years of related experience and/or training, or

- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
