Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Diesel Mechanic to join our team. This position is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of heavy equipment, diesel trucks, and other machinery used in landfill and recycling operations. The ideal candidate will have strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, maintain, and repair diesel engines, heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, compactors), and trucks.
Perform preventative maintenance, oil changes, filter replacements, hydraulic repairs, and electrical troubleshooting.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues with equipment and implement effective repairs.
Keep accurate records of repairs, services, and parts used.
Ensure all equipment is safe, operational, and in compliance with OSHA and DOT standards.
Maintain parts inventory as needed.
Work closely with landfill operations staff to minimize equipment downtime.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Qualifications:
3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably with heavy equipment.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment operation.
Welding and fabrication experience a plus.
Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics.
Valid drivers license (CDL preferred but not required).
Strong commitment to safety and reliability.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Work in outdoor environments (heat, cold, rain, dust).
Bend, kneel, climb, and work in tight spaces as needed.
