Job Title: Director of Maintenance and Transportation

Location: Plains ISD, Plains, TX

Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview:

\n

Plains ISD is seeking a reliable, skilled, and self-motivated Maintenance/ Gounder Keeper to join our facilities team. This position is responsible for the general maintenance, grounds, and equipment across the district's schools and administrative buildings.

\n

Key Responsibilities:

\n

\n

• \n

Perform routine maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry work.

\n\n

• \n

Troubleshoot and repair equipment, systems, and fixtures.

\n\n

• \n

Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address safety or maintenance issues.

\n\n

• \n

Maintain grounds including snow removal, landscaping, and playground upkeep.

\n\n

• \n

Work with school administration and custodial staff to prioritize and complete maintenance work orders in a timely manner.

\n\n

• \n

Ensure compliance with district safety procedures and applicable building codes.

\n\n

• \n

Assist with setup and breakdown for school events or relocations of equipment/furniture.

\n\n

• \n

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory.

\n\n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

\n

• \n

High school diploma or equivalent.

\n\n

• \n

Prior experience in general building maintenance or a related trade.

\n\n

• \n

Working knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.

\n\n

• \n

Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

\n\n

• \n

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

\n\n

• \n

Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks.

\n\n

• \n

Must pass background checks in accordance with district policy.

\n\n

\n

Preferred Qualifications:

\n

\n

• \n

Vocational or technical training in maintenance or related field.

\n\n

• \n

Clean driving record.

\n\n

• \n

Certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work (a plus but not required).

\n\n

\n
