As a Maintenance Worker II, you will perform a wide variety of electrical, plumbing, equipment, HVAC, general building maintenance, and repair functions related to the care and maintenance of our facilities and grounds. The right candidate will have strong skills in maintenance, repair and remodeling of the buildings and operation of related tools. You will work closely with all departments of the organization in order to maintain a clean, welcoming and healthy environment for both our patients and fellow professionals.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week; Monday through Friday, 3:00pm to 11:30pm.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a recognized trade or vocational school or four years applicable work experience requiring a progressive working knowledge of several related skilled fields such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, boilers, refrigeration, and pneumatic control systems
- License:
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Certification:
- HVAC 06a certification preferred.
- Skills/Competencies:
- Must have some degree of familiarity with building maintenance, techniques, equipment, and operation of power plants, plumbing and heating systems, sanitation, refrigeration, and electrical systems.
- Should be familiar with electrical and mechanical test equipment, use of telephone, intercom and radios, as well as electrical hand power tools including drill motors, sanders, electric snakes, portable saws, grinders, etc.
- Available for weekend on-call.
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Maintains electrical systems, which includes replacing and resetting breakers, trouble-shooting the MCC & all other distribution panels, as well as installation of new service or projects as needed.
- Thoroughly follows and updates Preventative Maintenance programs and schedules.
- Performs carpentry tasks including installation and repair of such items as doors, windows, screens, locks, etc., as needed.
- Makes needed repairs by plastering, patching, and painting of a variety of wall coatings and coverings, and installation of protective coverings.
- Properly cleans and maintains work area and shop.
- Inspects and maintains a good working knowledge of systems i.e., fire alarm control, nurse call communication, infant security, video surveillance, HVAC, and power monitoring (PMCS).
- Assists in maintaining parts, supplies, and all other materials for stock per the department’s purchasing process.
- Maintains lighting in and around the hospital building on a regular basis by replacing bulbs, repairing fixtures, and electrical service.
- Maintains plumbing systems, which includes plumbing, plunging, rodding, and routine maintenance of all drains and fixtures.
- Repairs patient electrical and mechanical beds.
- Repairs and maintains pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic equipment.
- Operates fuel fire and electrical boilers, as well as all other associated equipment.
- Maintains proper chemical and water treatment of all systems.
- Maintain proper documentation, including opening and closing of work orders, rounding, and purchase requests.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Occasional sitting/standing, crawling/kneeling, bending/stooping/crouching, twisting/turning and repetitive movement
- Frequent walking, climbing, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying.
- Works indoors with occasional outdoor activities with trips to the warehouse, professional office building or town.
- May be exposed to heat, cold, steam, electrical shock and a wide variety of chemicals and petroleum products.
- Occasionally climbs and works ladders.
- Ability to communicate using computer, verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
