By joining our District 6 in Kenton County as a Facility Maintenance Worker II, you'll have the opportunity to perform general maintenance and various janitorial duties in the upkeep of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment or serves as a lead worker in general maintenance and upkeep of a facility for counties supporting District 6.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Serves as lead worker maintaining the buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Carry out janitorial duties to maintain the building, including but not limited to classrooms, offices, restrooms, etc.
Learns to install and repair heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Repairs leaks and unclogs drains.
Performs maintenance duties throughout the District.
Coordinates with external vendors and Central Office for service calls.
Performs interior and exterior painting of facilities.
Keeps records of equipment servicing and maintenance schedules in the District.
Snow and ice duties in the winter.
Chemical sprayings of buildings and grounds.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Ideal candidate will have experience in:
Experience working on rough terrain and in changing climates.
Experience working with strict deadlines and service calls.
Experience with general maintenance and janitorial duties in upkeeping buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Experience in troubleshooting and performing minor facility repairs such as online research, purchasing materials, and ensuring safe facility repairs.
Experience in operating snow and ice plowing skills.
Experience in painting, repairing leaks and unclogging drains.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: NONE
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of building maintenance, grounds maintenance, general trades, skilled trades, moving services, or mechanical maintenance experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Formal training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
Incumbents in this job title may be exposed to extreme temperatures which requires the following of safety procedures. Must follow safety procedures, such as utilization of eye and ear protection, when utilizing certain mechanical equipment.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
