Performs skilled mechanical and electrical work installing, repairing and maintaining variety of equipment water and wastewater facilities.
- Troubleshoots and makes repairs to pumps, motors, valves, piping, control and monitoring equipment, chemical feed equipment, sludge disposal equipment and plant facilities;
- Maintains tools, equipment, and spare part inventories;
- Performs preventive maintenance on utility booster stations, tanks, pressure valves and related equipment;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public;
- Ability to receive, understand and follow through when given oral and written instructions from supervisor;
- Skill in operating light and heavy equipment;
- Skill in keeping records and making simple reports;
- Working knowledge or ability to learn computer operations, procedures and software (i.e. asset management and plant monitoring software);
- Inspects pump stations as required for proper operation and repair as needed;
- Understand and comply with federal and state regulations regarding utility systems;
- Employee will be assigned to a specific after hours on-call schedule;
- Performs general housekeeping duties and ground maintenance;
- Completion of documentation, via Cartegraph, on a daily basis to ensure proper inventory control, asset management and regulatory documentation;
- Communicate with plant manager and operators regarding operating status of equipment and work progress;
- Interact with citizens on the job site in a professional manner;
- Attend training as needed to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements;
- Assist in emergency operations as needed; and
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Thorough knowledge of the installation, repair and maintenance of the mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components of water treatment and pump station equipment;
- Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions of the work;
- Ability to trouble shoot and perform routine maintenance tasks independently with minimal direction supervision.

High school graduate or high school equivalent; plus, experience equivalent to two years full time in mechanical and electrical maintenance of which two years is in pump and electric motor repair preferred, but not required.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class A; Boom truck operation experience; and or electrical certifications preferred. Must have a valid TN/VA driver's license.
