General Statement of Duties
This employee performs a wide variety of the more routine semi-skilled tasks as a major part of the job related to the maintenance of buildings, walks, driveways, furniture, equipment, stadium, etc.; uses a wide variety of hand and power tools appropriate for the task. The work performed is normally related to adjustment, repair, replacement, installation, and preventive maintenance functions. In some divisions, specialized activities are performed utilizing the same general skill level. Normally works under close direction on a task initially, but is expected to work progressively independently on a wide variety of the tasks, performing the work in an efficient and skillful manner. Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications (KSAs)

Knowledge of:
A wide variety of standard and specialized hand and power tools and equipment used in building construction and maintenance for tasks performed.
A wide variety of processes used in maintenance of buildings and grounds for tasks performed; e.g., how to mix concrete, gravel, and sand to a proper consistency; how to complete quarterly routine maintenance forms.
Safety policies and procedures, e.g., Employee Safety Instruction Manual and applicable agency requirements.
Skill to:
Use a wide variety of common hand and power tools such as cement finishing tools or other standard and specialized tools
Disassemble, assemble, install, troubleshoot, and maintain a variety of items.
Use measuring instruments and tools (tapes, plumb line, level, framing square, calipers, compasses.)
Erect various types of scaffolding.
Use chemicals, spackling, plaster, etc., needed to prepare surfaces for painting.
Use paint brushes and rollers.
Ability to:
Read and work from work orders, sketches, diagrams, and assembly drawings.
Analyze routine or simple mechanical problems and to repair tools, equipment, furniture, etc.
Required Education and Experience
Each applicant must have one year of experience performing or assisting with building maintenance tasks such as working with concrete, basic plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation or air conditioning maintenance, etc
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Driver's License.
Must possess good physical condition to permit working at heights, depths, and in confined places (stadium roof, ladders, water tower, etc.) and to apply pressure (drill holes in concrete, etc.), lift cement, etc.
MILITARY EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE EVALUATION
Military education and experience may be substituted for college level course work at the lower and upper division baccalaureate and graduate levels and apprenticeship training at the vocational certificate level on a case by case basis based on the American Council on Education (ACE) Military Guide recommendations.
