Performs maintenance on molds and machines used for injection molding or casting of plastics and other materials. In this career, your responsibilities are to clean and maintain molds and equipment, perform inspections on mold components, and repair any damages to the mold or machinery. Your duties may also include operating molding machines, swapping out manufacturing molds, and creating reports on the molding machines to track maintenance performed or issues that arise with the equipment. You must be well versed in the safety procedures of the company regarding machine operation and may instruct other employees on these practices.
