Apprentice Mechanic
The Apprentice Mechanic role is designed to support the development of a new mechanic by building foundational mechanical and technical skills. You will receive onthejob training, learning how to maintain and repair plant equipment and machinery, including conveying systems, production equipment, and packaging machinery. You will also be trained to perform a wide variety of troubleshooting, repair, improvement, and equipmentsupport tasks.
Responsibilities
Diagnose equipment failures
Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical and production equipment
Install, maintain, and modify machinery and support systems
Perform fabrication, assembly, welding, cutting, burning, and pipefitting
Use standard mechanic tools and inspection gauges
Work from drawings, check sheets, verbal instructions, or sketches
Safely operate overhead lifts and work on overhead equipment
Collaborate with electricians as needed
Serve as a helper on tasks requiring additional support
Use basic shop math to support work
Clean equipment, parts, and work areas as required
Operate machinery to verify the quality of completed work
Participate actively in Safety Teams and Safety Programs
Requirements
Technical degree or certificate in Industrial Maintenance or a related field preferred
Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new technologies
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work rotating 12hour shifts and scheduled overtime
Ability to tolerate extended periods of walking, bending, stooping, kneeling
Ability to climb and descend stairs and ladders as part of daily tasks
Ability to perform basic math
Strong problemsolving skills and quick response capability
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform daily data entry and basic computer tasks
Ability to work in a moderately heavy manufacturing environment
