DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
- Maintenance operations include external grounds maintenance as seasonally appropriate and necessary to maintain safety.
- Inspects and identifies equipment or machines in need of repair.
- Troubleshoots issues to determine necessary repairs.
- Completion of monthly checklists for building and grounds maintenance and vehicle maintenance logs.
- Plans repair work using buildings blueprints or equipment manual as needed.
- Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
- Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain confidentiality for all information regarding clients, staff, and GCLC obtained as a result of employment at GCLC.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or high school equivalent is required.
- At least one (1) year of experience in janitorial, maintenance work, construction and/or plumbing.
- Must pass CYFD/FBI fingerprint clearance check to maintain employment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass and maintain Driving Record clearance in accordance with GCLC policies and procedures.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) both verbal and written is preferred, but not required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Must comply with all applicable OSHA and other regulatory safety requirements in the operation of such tools.
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical work is a primary part of job including prolonged periods of standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
- Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with passengers.
