Field Service Technician (High Purity Water)
Location: Baltimore, MD / Mid-Atlantic Region
Reports To: Service Manager / Director of Operations
Schedule: Full-Time | Day Shift with On-Call Rotation
Travel: Regional (home most nights)
Position Summary
Neu-Ion is seeking a Field Service Technician to support the service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-purity water systems across healthcare, laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, data centers, and industrial environments.
This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. You will work alongside experienced technicians to develop technical skills while supporting mission-critical water systems

Key Responsibilities
Field Service & System Support
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and startup of:
- Reverse Osmosis (RO) systems
- Deionization (DI) and mixed-bed systems
- EDI systems
- Water softeners and pretreatment skids
- Storage tanks, UV systems, filtration, and distribution loops
- Perform Water Quality Testing:
- Conductivity / Resistivity
- Hardness
- Chlorine / Chloramine
- TOC and microbial concerns (as applicable)
- Execute system sanitizations, resin exchanges, membrane exchanges, and performance verifications
- Respond to emergency service calls and support mission-critical systems with urgency and professionalism
- Support system startups, commissioning activities, and post-installation service follow-up
Basic Technical & Documentation Tasks
- Learn to identify and support troubleshooting of:
- Pumps, motors, valves, filters, lamps, and basic instrumentation
- Assist with reading P&IDs and equipment manuals
- Complete service reports and documentation with guidance
- Follow standard operating procedures and safety requirements
- Escalate issues to senior technicians and service manager when needed

Professional Conduct
- Participate in hands-on training and field learning
- Develop technical skills in water treatment systems and equipment
- Build knowledge of safety standards and best practices
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings, corrective actions, and recommendations
- Maintain a clean work area, organized service vehicle, and professional appearance at all times

Required Qualifications
Experience & Background
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Mechanical aptitude or technical interest
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team as well as independently
- Willingness to travel regionally

- Technical school or trade background
- Basic experience with plumbing, electrical, or mechanical systems
- Exposure to water treatment or industrial equipment
- Previous experience in a Field Service Environment

Physical Demands
- Regular standing, walking, bending, and lifting in mechanical and industrial environments
