- Performs diagnostic inspections of passenger vehicles and equipment to identify mechanical or electrical issues
- Executes minor repairs to mechanical and/or electrical systems on vehicles and equipment; coordinates offsite repairs or mechanical overhauls with vendors as needed
- Conducts routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment including lubrication, oil and filter changes and tire rotations
- Oversees parts, supply, and equipment inventory for vehicle fleet program; maintains organized work area
- Communicates with department heads, Facilities Director and outside vendors on repair recommendations and timelines, major repair decisions, warranty work and rebuild projects; provides guidance on vehicle and equipment rotation/replacement
- Maintains thorough and accurate records including services performed and general vehicle information; prepares reports of estimated parts and labor costs as requested
- Operates equipment and vehicles for the removal of snow
- Complies with all safety rules and regulations, according to Department policy
- Maintain confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent AND three (3) years experience with vehicle and equipment routine maintenance procedures and repairs
- Basic computer skills
- Must possess a valid North Dakota Drivers License, or equivalent
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Welding experience is preferred, but not required
- Work is performed in a maintenance facility and occasionally in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme temperatures and inclement weather
- Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs
- This position is subject to random drug and alcohol screenings
Compensation:
Compensation for this position ranges from $37-$42/hour depending on training and experience.
