Job Description:
The School Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional school environment. This role performs routine maintenance, repairs, and custodial support to ensure facilities, equipment, and grounds operate efficiently and meet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Maintenance & RepairsRepair and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural systems (within skill level)Address work orders in a timely and efficient mannerConduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failureCustodial & Grounds SupportAssist with general cleaning duties as needed (e.g., spills, emergencies)Maintain outdoor areas including mowing, trimming, and debris removalSet up and break down spaces for school events, meetings, and activities
Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with local, state, and district safety regulationsIdentify and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or needed repairsMaintain proper use and storage of tools, equipment, and chemicalsMaintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times
Equipment & InventoryOperate and maintain maintenance tools and equipmentMonitor inventory of supplies and notify supervisor when restocking is needed
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Have reasonable knowledge and skill level to work in a variety of different tradesMust be able to pass a background checkDemonstrate effective customer service strategies to all district patronsAbility to work in a safe and efficient mannerPerforms other duties as assigned by supervisor
EXPERIENCE:CDL required or willing to obtain CDL
