A diesel mechanic inspects, repairs, and maintains diesel engines. They work on a variety of vehicles and equipment, including trucks, heavy machinery, and commercial vehicles.

Responsibilities:

Inspect: Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and malfunctions

Repair: Adjust equipment and replace parts to fix engines

Maintain: Perform routine maintenance, such as oil and tire changes

Test: Conduct emissions tests and interpret diagnostic test results

Write reports: Create detailed inspection reports and repair plans

Collaborate: Work with other mechanics and suggest solutions for complex repairs

Manage: Hire, train, and manage a team of trainees

Drive: Drive vehicles into and out of the shop for repairs

Clean: Keep the work area clean and organize
