Heavy Equipment Mechanic At Kentucky Cooperage, the Mechanic position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing forklifts, semi-trucks, trailers, and other automotive and mobile equipment that support manufacturing operations. This role is crucial for ensuring equipment uptime, safety, and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced industrial environment. Schedule: Mon-Fri (6:00 am - 2:30 pm) Compensation: $26-$31 per hour, based on experience and skills Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on: Forklifts (electric, propane, diesel) Semitrucks, trailers, and yard trucks Company vehicles and light-duty automotive equipment Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, and fuel systems Conduct DOT and OSHArelated inspections and document repairs Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records (paper or CMMS) Respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams on equipment availability Order parts and maintain inventory of tools and supplies Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout standards, and environmental requirements Perform welding or fabrication as needed (if applicable) Keep the garage and work areas clean, organized, and safe Offsite visits to Distilleries for trailer repairs (if/when needed) using the company work truck Forklifts (electric, propane, diesel) Semitrucks, trailers, and yard trucks Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED required 3+ years of experience as a mechanic working on: Forklifts, heavy equipment, or fleet vehicles OR automotive / diesel mechanics in an industrial setting Clean driving record (based on background check) Strong mechanical aptitude with handson diagnostic experience Ability to read schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required, unless otherwise stated) Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in an industrial environment Forklifts, heavy equipment, or fleet vehicles OR automotive / diesel mechanics in an industrial setting Weekly Pay Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Short-Term Disability Long-Term Disability Paid Vacation Continuing Education 401(k) (Employer match equal to 50% of your "eligible contributions.")
