Maintenance Superintendent** This role oversees maintenance operations on either first or second shift, leading a team of maintenance technicians to ensure reliable operation of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems in a refrigerated food manufacturing environment. You will coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance, support production uptime, and provide hands-on technical guidance while promoting safety, quality, and sanitation standards. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians on the assigned shift, providing direction, coaching, and support. Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and coordinate corrective maintenance to restore production as quickly and safely as possible. Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical systems, including equipment controlled by PLCs. Oversee maintenance of utilities and boiler systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety. Ensure maintenance work complies with plant safety, sanitation, and quality standards in a food manufacturing environment. Collaborate with production and other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and support production schedules. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment history. Support training and development of maintenance team members in mechanical, electrical, and preventive maintenance practices. Participate in or lead shift handoffs to ensure clear communication of ongoing work and equipment status. Work some weekend shifts as needed to support plant operations and maintenance projects. Skills 3 to 5 years of mechanical maintenance technician experience. 1 to 2 years of electrical maintenance experience. 3 or more years of experience as a maintenance supervisor for first shift roles. 5 or more years of experience as a maintenance supervisor for second shift roles, with some flexibility on this requirement. Hands-on experience with PLC-controlled equipment. Strong mechanical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting and repair of production machinery. Electrical maintenance skills, including troubleshooting electrical systems and components. Knowledge of utilities and boiler systems maintenance. Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive maintenance programs. High School Diploma or higher. Ability to work 1st shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 or 4:00 p.m.) or 2nd shift (approximately 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 or 11:00 p.m.), including some weekends. Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively supervise a maintenance team. Qualifications Experience in the food manufacturing industry is preferred but not required. Experience working in a refrigerated production environment is beneficial. Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and practices. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a production facility. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability and safety. Why Work Here?
