Montebello Packaging is seeking an experienced Building & Maintenance Supervisor to lead all maintenance and facility operations within our manufacturing environment. This role is critical to plant performance and is responsible for ensuring equipment reliability, facility infrastructure integrity, and safe, compliant operations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise who can effectively manage people, systems, vendors, and priorities in a fast-paced setting while driving continuous improvement across both maintenance and facilities.
Key Responsibilities :
Leadership & Team Management :
Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance electrical and mechanical technicians
Assign daily work, manage schedules, and oversee equipment health & performance
Conduct evaluations, provide feedback, and support skill development
Promote a strong safety culture and accountability across the Maintenance Operations team
Oversee all preventive and corrective maintenance activities
Drive equipment uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency
Lead troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC systems
Ensure timely completion of work orders and maintenance tasks through CMMS
Manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance inventory
Facilities & Infrastructure Management :
Oversee building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, compressed air, water, and utilities
Ensure proper maintenance of building infrastructure (roofing, flooring, lighting, structural systems)
Manage grounds and exterior areas including parking, landscaping, and site upkeep
Coordinate facility improvements, layout changes, and space planning to support operations
Ensure reliability of critical systems including backup power and essential utilities
Vendor & Contract Management :
Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers
Negotiate, review, and administer maintenance and facility service contracts
Coordinate on-site vendor activities and ensure compliance with safety standards
Monitor vendor performance and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met
Control costs and ensure quality of contracted work
Compliance, Safety & Continuous Improvement
Ensure compliance with OSHA, LOTO, and environmental regulations
Lead safety initiatives, audits, and incident prevention efforts
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
Support capital projects, installations, and equipment upgrades
Participate in driving continuous improvement through root cause analysis and reliability initiatives
Budgeting & Planning :
Manage maintenance and facility budgets
Support capital planning and long-term infrastructure improvements
Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements
Qualifications :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering, or related field preferred
5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and PLC systems
Experience with CMMS and preventive maintenance programs
Working knowledge of OSHA, LOTO, and safety standards
Experience managing facility systems and infrastructure is highly preferred
