Journeyman Electrician - Lewiston, ID
Sofidel America, a global leader in tissue product manufacturing for domestic and hygienic use, is committed to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. We are seeking a Journeyman Electrician in our Maintenance Department. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for assembling, installing, testing, maintaining, and repairing electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatuses, and fixtures using hand and power tools. This is a union covered position.
This position will primarily follow a day shift schedule: Monday-Thursday, 4 - 10-hour shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, equipment, and components to identify and correct issues safely and efficiently.
- Connecting wiring to circuit breakers, transformers, and other electrical components
- Inspecting electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards, defects or necessary repairs while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety standards
- Testing electrical systems and circuit continuity using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure system compatibility and safety
- Troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical systems in a manufacturing environment
Experience and Qualifications:
Successful completion of an approved electrical apprenticeship program
Current Idaho State Journeyman Electrician license, or the ability to obtain an Idaho Journeyman Electrician license within six months of employment
Minimum of 3-5 years of journeyman-level experience in an industrial manufacturing environment; pulp and paper industry experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic
Experience troubleshooting and evaluating systems including:
PLCs
AC/DC drives and motors
Control systems
High-voltage switchgear and transformers
Experience with motor management systems, speed controls, and related equipment
Willingness to learn and utilize secondary maintenance skills in instrumentation and refrigeration
Ability to complete documentation within a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Self-motivated, accountable, and safety-focused mindset
Flexibility to work shift schedules as needed
