Industrial Maintenance Electrician Job Description This role focuses on keeping large manufacturing equipment and facility systems operating safely and reliably. You will diagnose and repair electrical issues, support new equipment installations and upgrades, and partner closely with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime in a high-volume manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair electrical issues across production machinery and facility systems, including large manufacturing equipment. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life. Support new equipment startup, testing, and system validation to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and related technical documentation to troubleshoot and repair systems. Perform equipment repairs, modifications, and upgrades to improve performance and reliability. Assist with installation and retrofit projects, including wiring, conduit, and component installation for new or upgraded equipment. Work with PLCs, drives, motor controls, and related electrical components to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems associated with production equipment. Perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, controls, and associated wiring, ensuring proper operation and adherence to standards. Support overall equipment improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues and recommending corrective actions. Follow all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies while performing maintenance tasks. Essential Skills Minimum two years of maintenance experience diagnosing and repairing large manufacturing equipment, preferably in welding and heavy fabrication environments. Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems on industrial production machinery and facility equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints. Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of motors, electrical components, conduit, and wiring. Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs, with at least 1 year of experience preferred. Experience working with PLCs, drives, motor controls, and related control system components. Knowledge and practical experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial setting. Proficiency in building maintenance and HVAC support. Ability to operate forklifts and aerial lifts safely and effectively. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including the ability to diagnose complex issues and implement effective repairs. Commitment to following safety protocols and reporting hazards in a manufacturing environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications A 4-year technical degree in electricity or electronics, or completion of a relevant trade school program, is preferred. Experience working in welding and heavy fabrication environments is highly desirable. Prior involvement in new equipment startups, testing, and system validation is beneficial. Experience in equipment installations, retrofits, and continuous improvement projects is an advantage. Comfort working with large industrial equipment and complex mechanical and electrical systems.
