Director of Maintenance and Operations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate support of the Antioch Community Consolidated School District 34's Strategic Framework.
• Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures.
• Oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of all district buildings and grounds.
• Supervise, evaluate, motivate, and develop maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel.
• Plan, schedule, and oversee construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
• Develop and manage the buildings and grounds budget, allocating resources and controlling costs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations and standards related to building and grounds maintenance.
• Coordinate the upkeep and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
• Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers, including bidding and procurement activities.
• Respond to facility-related emergencies occurring throughout the district 24/7.
• Maintain confidentiality of district records, staff information, and program documentation.
• Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, students, parents/guardians, and the community as needed to meet professional standards.
• Participate in meetings and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or designee in accordance with the Board of Education.
• Utilize time management techniques to organize and prioritize work.
• Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge and basic trade skills in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, masonry, and glazing.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate machine tools and maintenance vehicles.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanical repair.
• Knowledge of roof maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of effective grounds maintenance practices.
• Ability to bid on supplies, services, and materials.
• Ability to establish a regular schedule of preventative maintenance for buildings, grounds, and vehicles.
• Skills in interviewing, hiring, and evaluating employees.
• High school diploma (minimum).
