Maintenance Manager

We have an immediate opening for a Maintenance Manager . The Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing the overall maintenance, repair, and continuous improvement activities of a high-volume manufacturing facility focused on safety, quality, and productivity. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Follow plant safety procedures and guidelines; wear and utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Inform supervisor of safety issues and report any workplace injury or incident immediately.
  • Follow plant quality practices, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Actively participate in D&W safety improvement activities such as Hazard Identification, Safety Suggestions, Safety Teams, and related initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support SQF through compliance with SQF standard practices and policies.
  • Assist with SQF teams, audits, and documentation as necessary.
  • Maintain and coordinate annual inspections required by governmental regulatory agencies.
  • Manage the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain and test fire suppression sprinkler systems in accordance with regulations.
  • Serve as the plant liaison with the Fire Department and emergency responders.
  • Ensure periodic testing and maintenance of emergency lighting systems, fire extinguishers, and crane hoists.
  • Ensure employees follow plant quality practices, including GMPs.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure operations meet production and quality standards.
  • Recommend and implement solutions to improve machine efficiency and product quality.
  • Develop and administer the department 5S program consistent with plant-wide initiatives.
  • Monitor productivity and lead the team to achieve scheduled production goals.
  • Ensure machinery and equipment repairs are completed promptly, accurately, and within established timelines.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting efforts to maximize machine efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance departmental performance.
  • Prioritize maintenance activities and manage labor costs by maximizing employee productivity.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance (PM) programs across all manufacturing areas.
  • Supervise Maintenance Technicians in accordance with company policies and applicable laws, including planning, assigning work, performance management, discipline, and problem resolution.
  • Conduct operator testing as required.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance procedures, specifications, work instructions, repair manuals, and related documentation.
  • Prepare and submit purchase requests for necessary materials and supplies.
  • Monitor utility usage and develop energy-saving programs.
  • Oversee the Work Order database, machine histories, logs, manuals, and resource materials.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, operating expenses, and plant supply costs.
  • Compile, prepare, and submit performance reports as directed.
  • Support the plant’s Food Safety initiatives by completing required training and ensuring compliance with food safety practices.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Self-directed and capable of working independently.
  • Understanding of plastic manufacturing processes.
