We are currently looking for a Maintenance Manager!
This role has primary responsibility for Preventative Maintenance Program, Upgrades to Equipment and the Installation and Startup of New Equipment. The Maintenance Manager also has responsibility for management of the facility. To meet this objective, the incumbent leads the maintenance staff and manages the process in a manner necessary to meet or exceed safety, food safety, delivery, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement standards.
Frequently interacts with: Production Supervisor, Quality/Health and Safety Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, Purchasing, Scheduling and plant employees.
The Facility runs 24/5 with rotational schedules for the workforce and supervisors. Although the normal hours for this position will be days, the incumbent will need to be available by phone or in person for off-shift emergencies.
HOW YOULL MAKE THE IMPACT:
- Responsible for maintenance of equipment and the facility. Oversee and constantly monitor service and repair costs, and any consumable purchases as required to ensure control of maintenance spend while maintaining required parts and service to allow safe and reliable operation of the equipment, services and building. Provide feedback to management on the state of equipment, services and the facility to minimize downtime and prioritize capital expenditure.
- Oversee and constantly monitor flow of production and ensure smooth safe operation in every step of the process. Provide leadership to the maintenance staff to ensure manpower is properly utilized.
- Identify problems or potential problems with equipment and process and take appropriate steps to quickly resolve issues and minimize impact/waste.
- Responsible for personal commitment to our Food Safety Program and its continuous improvement and for directing the training of each employee under their supervision,
- Ensure all the staff adhere to food safety, GMP, HSOP and S.O. Ps at all times.
- Responsible for personal commitment to Safety and Housekeeping and for directing the training of each employee under their supervision, to ensure compliance with all applicable legislative and McNairn health and safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- Maintain maintenance and food safety reporting records, prepare notes on any issues, communicate all issues to Supervisor/Manager as required.
- Maintains current knowledge of equipment, processes, and manufacturing techniques.
- Assists in the development of new products and more efficient operations.
- Integral part of the CAPEX process, responsibility for Pre-start review and optimization of equipment potential.
Health & Food Safety
- Works with management and Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure all employees understand and comply with the safety rules and regulations as outlined by the company safety policy and applicable laws
- (OH&S Act and Regulations)
- Understands responsibility under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Reviews all safety inspection documentation for needed repairs.
- Reviews guarding requirements and provides leadership on Health and Safety
- Assesses Training needs, implements required training and updates training documentation and forwards to Health and Safety Coordinator
- Reviews Recordable Downtime Log and Maintenance Work Orders to verify completion of work and any sanitization requirements.
- Ensure that the Nonconformance process is being followed for any non-conforming product or equipment.
- Ensures Monthly Sanitization is completed as per documented Policies and Procedures.
- Completes annual GMP training, knowledge of HACCP Plan.
WHAT YOULL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- College diploma, University degree, or Industrial Millwright (433A) or Industrial Electrician (442A/309A) Certificate of Qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of technical leadership experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated experience directing, coaching, scheduling, and coordinating the work of skilled trades personnel, contractors, and maintenance teams.
- Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance programs, equipment reliability, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience leading maintenance activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, preferably within food manufacturing or packaging operations.
- Strong interpersonal, and verbal and written communications skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving, planning, and decision making.
- Requires thorough knowledge converting equipment and printing equipment, troubleshooting techniques, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be a business-minded professional capable of providing direction to others.
- Must possess good communication skills with the ability to build relationships at multiple levels within the organization and work well with others in a team environment. Commitment to safety focused workforce.
- Knowledge of and ability to use company and Supplier systems and Microsoft office suite including Word, Power Point, Project, and Excel and ERP system. Knowledge of CAD and MP2 are an asset.
- Certified and/or experienced in supervisory responsibilities under WSIB/WCB, OSHA, and First Aid an asset.
