Position plans, directs and coordinates the activities of employees engaged in chemical production plant support in the functions of central maintenance, utilities supply (steam, electricity, water, air, nitrogen and others), treatment of incoming water, pretreatment of waste waters, and engineering stores.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops programs, procedures and practices to encourage employees to work safety in an environmentally responsible manner to achieve quality results at acceptable cost levels.
- Participates in safety, health, and environmental continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepares budgets and monitors expenses.
- Plans, coordinates and oversees equipment rebuilds and upgrades.
- Provides mechanical and technical support for the business unit and home plant.
- Manages the predictive and preventative maintenance of the Avient Reliability Program. Key Business Unit resource and support person for these programs.
- Provides advisory support to the plant-engineering group
- Maintains plant engineering standards and compliance
- Drives the cultural changes necessary for the organization
- Resolves personnel conflicts and ensures customer satisfaction
- Develops systems and uses applicable tools to improve understanding of maintenance costs and utility measures relative to overall goals of reliability.
- Inspects and troubleshoots equipment as needed, including electrical, mechanical, controls and drives.
- Manages maintenance stores functions to properly support plant needs, including maintenance material and contracting needs, process material needs, raw material purchasing, and physical inventory.
- PLC and HMI Programming and troubleshooting.
- Electrical Controls Design and Troubleshooting

Physical/Environ. Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 55 lbs. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or
caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
Required Length & Type of Experience:
7 years experience required in maintenance management, including CMMS, craft supervision, budgeting and capital control.
Highschool Diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred
