Electronic Technician Job Description The Electronic Technician will assemble, test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic devices and circuit boards used in specialized testing equipment. This role involves hands-on electronic assembly, wire and cable fabrication, quality inspection, and documentation using computer systems and Microsoft Office. The technician will work from schematics and work instructions to build and verify custom electronic products in a clean, temperature-controlled environment on a 7:00am-3:30pm shift, with the opportunity to grow into a long-term role. Responsibilities Load firmware onto electronic devices and ensure proper functionality. Assemble wires into chassis and mount circuit boards onto chassis according to work instructions. Build custom devices and work with circuit boards from start to finish, including assembly, testing, and troubleshooting. Follow electrical schematics and written work instructions to perform accurate electronic assembly. Use hand tools to cut, strip, and prepare wires for assembly. Perform soldering on approximately 10% of the workweek, including tinning wires and soldering wire ends and connections. Terminate wires, hand crimp wires, and crimp pins to complete cable assemblies. Take documented specifications to build, assemble, and test cables and wire harnesses. Perform cable assembly and wire preparation, including cutting wires based on work instructions. Use a volt meter to test, troubleshoot, and verify electronic circuits and assemblies. Test completed devices and circuit boards to ensure they meet quality and performance standards. Perform quality inspections and document results to maintain high standards of reliability and accuracy. Use a computer system to document and retrieve work orders and maintain accurate production records. Use Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications for tracking, documentation, and reporting. Troubleshoot and repair circuit boards and electronic assemblies as needed. Assist in other departments as necessary to support production and development projects. Collaborate with team members to identify and solve issues and make recommendations for process improvements. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with clean room and safety guidelines. Essential Skills At least 2 years of experience as an electronic technician. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic schematics. Hands-on experience with electronic assembly, including working with circuit boards and chassis. Ability to test, troubleshoot, and repair circuit boards and electronic assemblies. Experience using a volt meter for testing and troubleshooting electronic circuits. Basic to intermediate hand soldering skills, including tinning wires and soldering wire ends. Ability to perform cable assembly, wire preparation, and wire termination using hand tools and crimping tools. Experience using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel, for documentation and tracking. High school diploma or GED. Ability to follow detailed work instructions and maintain accuracy and attention to detail. Comfort using a computer to document and retrieve work orders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in electronic repair and troubleshooting in a production or manufacturing environment. Experience in electronic assembly of custom devices or specialized testing equipment. Ability to work independently with minimal micromanagement while maintaining high quality standards. Strong communication skills and willingness to speak up, collaborate, and propose improvements. Comfort working on a variety of development projects and adapting to changing priorities. The work involves hands-on use of hand tools, crimping tools, and volt meters, as well as regular use of computers and Microsoft Office for documentation and tracking. The environment is laid back yet focused, with an emphasis on quality, reliability, and meeting customer deadlines. The products you help build are used in the construction industry for deep foundation testing and quality assurance, contributing to safer and more efficient building projects. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SOLON, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $22.00/hr.
