Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for a direct hire opportunity in a dairy manufacturing facility in Lancaster, NY. This role supports the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of equipment used in the processing and packaging of dairy products such as milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, and ice cream.
The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in keeping production equipment running reliably while supporting food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards. This is a strong opportunity for a hands-on maintenance professional who enjoys troubleshooting, working with industrial equipment, and being part of a collaborative production environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on dairy processing and packaging equipment to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems throughout the facility.
- Maintain and repair pumps, conveyors, valves, motors, compressors, refrigeration systems, boilers, pasteurizers, and related production equipment.
- Respond quickly to equipment issues and production interruptions while following safety and sanitation procedures.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and equipment diagrams.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, logs, and parts inventory documentation.

- Compensation: $27 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on dairy manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems in a production environment.
- Support equipment installations, startups, upgrades, and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with production and quality teams to maintain efficient, food-safe operations.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1 to 2 years of maintenance experience preferred, ideally in manufacturing, food processing, or a related industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to follow GMP, sanitation, LOTO, and workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to read technical documentation, schematics, manuals, and diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in wet, cold, noisy, refrigerated, or industrial production areas.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical training in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, mechanical systems, or a related field.
- Experience in dairy, beverage, refrigerated manufacturing, or food processing environments.
- Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, FDA, and food safety requirements.
- PLC troubleshooting or diagnostics experience.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills.
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Experience using CMMS software for work orders, maintenance records, or parts tracking.
