Orangeburg Country Club is an 18-hole club with a full scale of amenities. In addition to the course, OCC has a full-service restaurant, four tennis and pickleball courts, and a pool area. We are looking for a Mechanic who is highly motivated and can work independently to ensure that our golf course maintenance equipment is kept in peak condition to minimize downtime due to repairs. Previous experience as a small engine and diesel mechanic is required. Previous experience as a golf course mechanic is preferred.
Primary Job Duties
Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, greasing, and inspecting equipment to prevent downtime.
Repairs & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repairs diesel, gas, and electric engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
Cutting Unit Maintenance: Grind reels, set bedknives, and adjust cutting tolerances for a high-quality cut.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and parts inventory.
Safety Compliance: Ensure all machinery meets OSHA safety guidelines. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance shop.
Equipment Operation: Sharpen blades, set up new equipment, and occasionally train operators on proper machine use.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in small engine, automotive, or turf equipment repair.
Skills: Proficiency with reel mowers (Toro) hydraulic systems, and welding. Ability to inspect work for quality and accuracy. Ability to work independently and cooperate effectively with others.
Education: High school diploma or GED; vocational training in mechanics is highly preferred.
Physical: Ability to lift up to 50-100 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, work on and under equipment, and work in varied weather conditions.
