Maintenance Electrician Job Description The Maintenance Electrician installs, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical and mechanical systems in a high-volume manufacturing facility. This role focuses on PLC troubleshooting, electrical systems up to 480V, and general maintenance of production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation across multiple shifts. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and equipment, including working with voltages up to 480V. Diagnose and resolve PLC issues, including connecting to the network and navigating PLC systems for fault finding. Interpret and work from electrical schematics and ladder logic diagrams to identify and correct issues. Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime. Use basic hand and power tools, such as screwdrivers and wrenches, to perform electrical and mechanical repairs. Support and maintain hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems as needed. Assist with wiring, electronics, and control systems troubleshooting in a manufacturing environment. Collaborate with a team of mechanics and maintenance professionals to prioritize and complete work orders. Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and all safety procedures while working on equipment. Document maintenance activities and communicate equipment status and needs to the team and leadership. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and production efficiency. Essential Skills At least 5+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong electrical skills with hands-on PLC troubleshooting experience. Ability to work with electrical systems up to 480V safely and effectively. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and ladder logic. Ability to connect into PLC networks and navigate control systems for diagnostics. Experience using basic hand and power tools for electrical and mechanical maintenance. Experience in manufacturing maintenance, preferably in a fast-paced production setting. Willingness and ability to work all shifts, including second and third shift, with initial training on first shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in corrugated box or similar packaging manufacturing is a plus. Trade school or technical training in electrical, industrial maintenance, or a related field is a plus. Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems is highly beneficial. Experience with welding, particularly MIG and some TIG, is a nice-to-have. Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and practices. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces corrugated boxes. You will work in a warehouse-style environment where temperatures can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The maintenance team consists of approximately four mechanics per shift and a total of around twelve mechanics across all shifts, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures are required at all times to ensure safety. Steel-toed boots are mandatory, and you will regularly work around production machinery and industrial equipment on second and third shifts after an initial training period on first shift.
