Help
As a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (WG-5803-11), you will serve as shop chief overall small organizional segment in a maintenance function with responsibility for the overall shop operion. Work involves the maintenance, repair, and modificion of heavy-duty vehicles and mobile equipment which have utility systems or special hydraulic, pneumic, mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, feures, or controls designed for such purposes as construction, comb, earth moving, ship loading, firefighting, and comparable industrial or special applicions. Examples of heavy-duty equipment includes bulldozers, road graders, crawler tractors, power shovels, locomotives, comb tanks, cranes, large missile transporters, and fire trucks. The repair of major systems (such as diesel, gasoline, multi-fuel, and turbine engines; automic, standard, and cross-drive transmissions; heavy duty drive line systems; and hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical utility systems) is included, whether accomplished as part of or apart from repair of the total piece of heavy mobile equipment involved.

This is an excepted service position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the employing ste's Nional Guard, required prior to the effective de of placement.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE :
Experience or training th has provided the candide with the skill to make repairs or the ability to assist with repairs th can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE :
Must have 18 months experience or training leading to an extensive knowledge of the mechanical makeup, operion, and working relionships of complex interconnecting systems, assemblies, and parts for a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Must have the ability to diagnose, repair, overhaul, and modify interconnected complex systems on a variety of comb, tactical, commercial, special purpose vehicles, and equipment. Must have an extensive knowledge of ste of the art electrical, electronic, complex hydraulic, pneumic, and other major non-mechanical systems th have a functional relionship and effect on the operion of major mechanical systems. Must have an extensive knowledge of hydraulic lifting, loading, turning, and positioning systems and their mechanical, hydraulic, pneumic, electrical, and electronic controls. Must have the skill and knowledge to develop or improvise methods, alter parts, and make repairs in the absence of technical guidelines (such as modifying parts to fit and mesh into systems for which the parts were not designed); improvise modificions to equipment to correct recurring malfunctions; and design modificions to meet special test requirements or other special needs.
