The position focuses on electrical, robotic, PLC, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, ensuring reliable production while mentoring other technicians on automation and controls. Responsibilities Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair on Fanuc and Epson pick-and-place robots, including diagnosing faults, interpreting error codes, recalibrating (such as Z calibration), reviewing programs and teach points, and resolving alarm calls. Inspect, maintain, and repair end-of-arm (EOA) tooling, including swapping out motherboards and other robotic components as needed. Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems using schematics and a voltmeter on 24V, 110V, and 240V circuits, identifying root causes of failures. Replace and commission electrical components such as drives, sensors, and motors, ensuring minimal downtime and safe operation. Log into PLCs (primarily Allen-Bradley) to troubleshoot issues, understand inputs and outputs, navigate RSLogix, pinpoint problems, and make minor edits while coordinating with controls engineers for more complex programming needs. Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting valves, reading hydraulic prints, and pinpointing issues in motors, drives, and 3-phase motor applications. Support mechanical maintenance on stamping presses (300-400 ton Minister and Schuler machines) and bonding/assembly equipment, including repairs, adjustments, and component replacements. Perform preventive maintenance on production machinery, robotics, and facility systems, following established schedules and documenting all work performed. Use SAP or similar systems to track preventive maintenance activities, log work orders, and analyze recurring issues to drive long-term solutions. Assist and mentor other maintenance technicians in automation, robotics, and controls troubleshooting to build overall team capability. Support general facility maintenance tasks, including upkeep of washer machines and other plant equipment, to maintain a safe and efficient work environment. Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and controls teams to minimize downtime and support continuous improvement initiatives. Follow safety procedures and best practices while working on electrical, hydraulic, mechanical, and robotic systems. Essential Skills Approximately 6+ years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician or in a closely related maintenance role, with a strong tenure in the field. Proven experience in robotic troubleshooting, specifically with Fanuc robots and/or Epson pick-and-place robots. Ability to understand and troubleshoot Fanuc robots when faults occur, including identifying whether issues are electrical, performing recalibration (such as Z calibration), interpreting encoder feedback, and reviewing programs and teach points. Hands-on experience working with end-of-arm tooling, including the ability to swap out motherboards and other robotic components. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including reading and interpreting electrical schematics. Proficiency using a voltmeter to troubleshoot 24V, 110V, and 240V systems safely and accurately. Ability to replace and troubleshoot drives, sensors, and motors, including identifying the root cause of failures. Practical experience with PLC troubleshooting, primarily Allen-Bradley PLCs, including logging in, understanding inputs and outputs, and working within RSLogix. Capability to identify and pinpoint PLC-related issues and make basic edits, while collaborating with controls engineers for more complex changes. Hydraulic troubleshooting experience, including reading hydraulic prints and identifying faulty valves and components. Experience with 3-phase motors, including troubleshooting, swapping, and verifying proper operation. Solid mechanical aptitude in an industrial environment, including work on presses, assembly equipment, and related machinery. Background in industrial maintenance within a manufacturing or production setting, ideally involving automation, robotics, and stamping or similar heavy equipment. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on a wide range of industrial equipment. Comfort working with robotics, controls, automation, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems in a hands-on capacity. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with stamping presses in the 300-400 ton range (such as Minister and Schuler presses) is beneficial. Familiarity with bonding machines and automated assembly equipment is a plus. Experience using SAP or similar computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track preventive maintenance, log work orders, and analyze recurring issues. Ability to perform basic welding and fabrication tasks in support of maintenance activities is advantageous. Comfort performing general facility maintenance tasks around the shop, including cleaning and maintaining washer machines. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on identifying root causes and preventing repeat equipment failures. Effective communication skills to work alongside controls engineers, production personnel, and other maintenance team members.
