Maintenance Mechanic - NIGHT SHIFTPosition OverviewThe Maintenance Mechanic will work on the night shift to ensure reliable operation of production equipment in a food manufacturing environment. The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems to maximize equipment uptime, support safe and sanitary production, and promptly resolve breakdowns. The ideal candidate combines hands-on mechanical and electrical skills with experience in food manufacturing and a strong commitment to safety and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems across production and packaging equipment.Diagnose and repair motors, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, bearings, seals and drive systems to restore equipment to operation quickly and safely.Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, control panels and PLCs; replace sensors, relays, starters and variable frequency drives as needed.Support production changeovers and line startups during the night shift to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.Follow and enforce lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding requirements and all safety and sanitation policies specific to food manufacturing.Maintain accurate maintenance logs, complete work orders and record parts used and time spent on repairs.Perform basic welding, fabrication and machine adjustments to modify or rebuild components as required.Support plant sanitation needs by disassembling and reassembling equipment for cleaning and ensuring repairs meet sanitary design requirements.Monitor spare parts inventory, request replenishment, and assist with managing critical spares to reduce downtime.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability, reduce waste, and improve throughput.Provide after-hours on-call support as scheduled, responding to emergency breakdowns and coordinating with production and supervision to restore operations.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical certificate, vocational training or associate degree in industrial maintenance, electrical or mechanical trades preferred.3+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food manufacturing.Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills with experience on conveyors, packaging and processing equipment.Proven electrical skills including wiring, control circuits, PLC troubleshooting and variable frequency drives.Experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, basic welding and fabrication.Knowledge of food safety standards (GMPs, HACCP, SQF) and ability to perform work to meet sanitary requirements.Familiarity with lockout/tagout, confined space entry, and other safety protocols; relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 10/30) preferred.Ability to read electrical prints, mechanical drawings and technical manuals.Forklift certification and comfortable operating material handling equipment.Willingness and ability to work night shift, perform physical tasks (lifting, climbing, standing for long periods) and be available for occasional on-call or overtime.Strong communication skills, teamwork orientation, and a proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.Skills: Maintenance, Food, Electrical, Food Manufacturing, Mechanical (preferred).Benefits- Medical Dental and Vision- 401k- PTO
