JOB CLASS: Maintenance

POSITIONS: Maintenance: Worker, Asst. Worker, Carpenter, Journeyman Building Maintenance License,

Journeyman Electrical or Plumbing License, Master License Electrical and Plumbing.

GROUP: Classified

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

GRADE: 810,812,813,814,815,816

SALARY RANGE: $46,822 to $103,223

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform skilled work on one or more of the maintenance crews:

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

(These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)

• Operate, maintain and repair tools and equipment associated with trade.
• Perform the maintenance requirements of assigned schools/facilities in a geographic zone through work orders, preventative maintenance requirements, emergency calls, etc.
• Aid in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, drawings and specifications.
• Assist with parts and material procurement.
• Some HVAC Experience preferred.
• Handle two-way communication with dispatch, other craftsmen and supervisor.
• Maintain clean, safe and orderly work space.
• Operate a work vehicle and ensure it is maintained and well stocked..
• Perform related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

General knowledge of the common practices, tools, terminology and safety precautions of a trade; general knowledge of the use and characteristics of common building materials; skill in the use of tools and equipment associated with particular trade; ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to estimate needed materials and time required for various jobs; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma/GED or completion of vocational courses.

Minimum of five years experience in the trade and license for journeyman positions.

A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift 100 lbs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Candidates will need to complete requirements to obtain a Virginia Commercial Driver’s License. Minimum Class B, or Class A.
• Completion of all requirements of the bus driver training program offered by the school system.
