Assistant Maintenance Technician (Andover) compensation: DOE employment type: experience level: entry level job title: Assistant Maintenance Technician Position Summary The Assistant Maintenance Technician supports the daily maintenance and repair needs of residential and/or commercial buildings. This role helps ensure that the property is safe, clean, functional, and well-maintained for residents, tenants, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is dependable, hands-on, organized, and willing to learn a variety of maintenance tasks. Key Responsibilities Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, appliance repair, and general building repairs. Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and professional manner. Help inspect common areas, hallways, mechanical rooms, exterior grounds, and building systems for needed repairs or safety concerns. Assist with apartment turnovers, including painting, cleaning, minor repairs, fixture replacement, and preparing units for new residents. Perform basic groundskeeping duties such as trash removal, snow removal, sweeping, and maintaining exterior areas. Support preventative maintenance tasks on building systems, equipment, doors, locks, lighting, HVAC filters, and other property components. Maintain tools, supplies, equipment, and storage areas in a clean and organized manner. Report larger repair needs, safety hazards, code concerns, or recurring maintenance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor or Property Manager. Follow company policies, safety procedures, and applicable building regulations. Provide courteous and respectful service to residents, tenants, vendors, and coworkers. Assist with emergency maintenance situations as needed. Qualifications Previous maintenance, construction, janitorial, or property management experience preferred, but not required. Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools. Ability to follow instructions and complete assigned tasks independently or as part of a team. Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail. Good communication and customer service skills. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment as needed. Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs/ladders, and work in various indoor and outdoor conditions. Valid driver's license Principals only.
