Maintenance Mechanic II (Equipment Service Center) Organization Name Stormwater, Pavement, and Traffic Operations Department Maximum Salary 33.77 Detailed Description This is skilled manual work with emphasis in the maintenance and repair of power tools and small equipment; and may include some facilities repair and maintenance tasks. Work involves the use of skilled trade knowledge to clean, maintain and repair various tools and small equipment such as water pumps, tractors, mowers, and generators. Work may also include reading manuals, blueprints and schematics to determine repair needs for various equipment, skilled use of a variety of tools; diagnosis and repair of electronic control systems; and tracking and performing preventative and scheduled maintenance. Work may involve lead worker responsibility over one or more semi-skilled workers on an assigned project. The nature and pace of the work requires that an employee in this class be versatile, self-motivated, have a positive attitude and be highly productive. Salary: $23.83 - $33.77 Hourly Close Date: 06-12-2026 (11:59 PM) To Qualify Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must: Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency. Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver License (CDL) with "X" endorsement - or - at time of application, must possess a Class "B" Commercial Driver License and must obtain and continue to maintain the "X" endorsement within five and one half (5 ) months of appointment to the position. Have considerable progressive years of experience at the journeyman-level in three or more of the different skilled trades involved. Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster. Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants: Have at least five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of power tools and small equipment. Have some supervisory experience. Have basic computer skills.
