Apprentice Facilities Maintenance Technician (HVAC) Job Description The Facilities Maintenance Technician (HVAC) maintains and supports all building systems across a three-building campus, with a strong focus on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general facilities maintenance. This role works a day-shift schedule of four 10-hour days, with some additional Friday work as needed, and provides the opportunity to train directly under a Journeyman HVAC technician and progress toward a Journeyman's license. Responsibilities Maintain and support all aspects of three campus buildings, ensuring safe and reliable operation of building systems. Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems and related components. Perform general facilities maintenance, including basic mechanical, electrical, and plumbing tasks. Work with mid-voltage electrical systems as needed to support building operations. Assist with building controls and low-voltage systems to ensure proper functionality and comfort. Inspect, diagnose, and resolve issues with facility equipment and infrastructure in a timely manner. Collaborate with other maintenance and production team members to complete repairs and projects efficiently. Follow safety procedures and use ladders, boom lifts, and other equipment safely while working at heights. Support both industrial and office areas of the facility, responding to maintenance requests as they arise. Document work performed and communicate maintenance needs or recurring issues to leadership or technicians. Essential Skills Experience or strong interest in HVAC maintenance and repair. Basic knowledge of electrical systems, including mid-voltage and low-voltage work. Foundational skills in plumbing and general facilities maintenance. Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with a variety of machinery and building systems. Ability to work safely with ladders, boom lifts, and in elevated or confined areas. Willingness to learn new skills and grow within the maintenance field. Ability to work effectively with others and collaborate as part of a team. Positive attitude and reliability in a physically demanding, industrial environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Interest in obtaining a Journeyman HVAC license by training under a Journeyman HVAC technician. Desire to gain broad exposure to maintenance disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building controls. Comfort working in both industrial production areas and office environments. Openness to cross-training and advancing into leadership or supervisory roles over time. The schedule consists of four 10-hour day shifts from approximately 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some additional Friday work as needed. You will work around a variety of industrial equipment, building systems, and controls, collaborating closely with maintenance and production teams in a fast-paced, hands-on setting.
