Maintenance Mechanic - 2nd or 3rd Shift - Pay up to $30/hr Job Description: The Maintenance Mechanic supports direct manufacturing and distribution operations by installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery, equipment, facility structures, and electrical and piping systems across the site. Working on 3rd shift, this role focuses primarily on mechanical maintenance with significant electrical responsibilities, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production equipment and facility infrastructure. Responsibilities: Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems across facility locations by following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings. Use hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, and precision measuring and testing instruments to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities. Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment to identify issues and verify proper operation. Listen for unusual sounds from machinery and equipment to detect malfunctions and collaborate with maintenance team members to diagnose and resolve problems. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts in accordance with specifications, blueprints, and safety procedures. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other moving components to maintain optimal performance and extend equipment life. Install and repair electrical apparatus, including transformers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment. Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, including repairing or replacing gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related components. Repair and maintain facility structures and grounds to support safe and efficient operations. Install machinery and equipment according to blueprints and technical specifications, ensuring proper alignment, anchoring, and functionality. Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment, including robots and programmable controllers, as needed to support production. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines to repair or fabricate parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools. Operate cutting torches and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts as required for maintenance and fabrication tasks. Fabricate and repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures to support facility and production needs. Maintain familiarity with emergency procedures and equipment necessary to safely and effectively respond to incidents involving hazardous waste. Ensure hazardous waste, universal waste, and used oil are placed in appropriate containers and handled in accordance with environmental and safety requirements. Support other maintenance personnel and work collaboratively with supervisors to prioritize work, minimize downtime, and maintain a safe working environment. Remain open to working overtime when needed to support production demands and maintenance priorities. Essential Skills: 1-2 years of industrial manufacturing maintenance experience. Strong mechanical aptitude with approximately 70% of work focused on mechanical maintenance and 30% on electrical tasks. Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, manuals, and technical drawings. Hands-on experience with equipment repair, including disassembly, parts replacement, and reassembly. Electrical troubleshooting skills up to 480 volts, including working with transformers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components. Proficiency in using electrical and electronic testing equipment to diagnose and verify equipment performance. Experience using hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, and precision measuring instruments safely and effectively. Capability to install, maintain, and repair piping systems, including hydraulic and pneumatic components. Basic welding and cutting skills using cutting torches and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Ability to set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines for repair and fabrication work. Comfort working on 3rd shift (10:45 p.m.-6:45 a.m., Sunday through Thursday) and remaining open to overtime as needed. Strong troubleshooting mindset and the ability to identify unusual equipment behavior through observation and sound. Commitment to safe work practices and adherence to facility safety and environmental procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience installing, programming, and repairing automated machinery, robots, and programmable controllers. Experience in maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including gauges, valves, and pressure regulators. Experience maintaining facility structures and grounds in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Ability to fabricate and repair wooden structures such as counters, benches, and partitions. Familiarity with hazardous waste handling procedures and emergency response protocols. Experience working in a team-based maintenance environment with multiple technicians across shifts. You will work alongside a night-shift maintenance team currently consisting of five technicians, including both entry-level and more experienced team members. The environment involves regular use of hand tools, power tools, hoists, cranes, precision measuring devices, electrical and electronic testing equipment, machine tools (such as lathes, grinders, drills, and milling machines), and welding and cutting equipment. Work includes interaction with automated machinery, robots, programmable controllers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and various facility structures and grounds, all within established safety and environmental guidelines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.73 - $27.17/hr.
