Maintenance Technician - 1st or 3rd - Pay up to $36/hr Job Description: This role focuses on performing preventative and reactive maintenance on modern injection molding equipment in a high-tech, climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You will troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to maximize equipment uptime and support safe, efficient production. Openings are available on 12-hour day and night shifts, as well as an 8-hour first-shift position for a high-level technician. Responsibilities: Own and execute preventative and reactive maintenance on production equipment to ensure maximum uptime. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems using appropriate diagnostic tools such as meters and gauges. Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures, production issues, scrap, and inefficiencies, and recommend corrective actions. Maintain accurate documentation of equipment usage, repairs, and preventative maintenance schedules. Support installation, repair, and replacement of production equipment and related systems as needed. Identify opportunities to improve maintenance procedures, reliability practices, and overall equipment effectiveness. Ensure all tools, parts, and work areas are properly staged and production-ready before maintenance activities begin. Communicate effectively with leadership regarding safety, quality, and production concerns, including equipment status and repair timelines. Execute daily and scheduled preventative maintenance tasks in a timely and organized manner. Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe workspace in accordance with 5S standards. Partner closely with operations and maintenance team members to drive equipment uptime, efficiency, and consistent product quality. Support adherence to food-grade protocols on equipment and in work areas where products contact food. Essential Skills: Minimum 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong troubleshooting ability across both electrical and mechanical systems. Hands-on experience working with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair (approximately 40% of the work). Hands-on experience working with pneumatic systems and automated equipment. Ability to read and interpret basic schematics, diagrams, and machine drawings. Experience working from and executing a preventative maintenance schedule. Ability to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, gauges, and related test equipment. Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including regularly lifting 25-50 lbs, with heavier lifting as needed, and frequent bending, climbing, and working on equipment. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment that follows food-related protocols. Ownership of a personal tool set suitable for industrial maintenance work. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience in the plastics industry, particularly with injection molding equipment. Experience with injection molding, including in-mold labeling (IML) setup and troubleshooting. Exposure to heat transfer machinery or similar thermal processing equipment. Experience in food-grade manufacturing environments, including familiarity with GMP and HACCP practices. Demonstrated history of long-term tenure in previous roles, showing reliability and commitment. Why Work Here? Work Environment: This is a modern manufacturing environment producing plastic bucket pails and lids using 14 injection molding machines at the site. The facility is brand new, well lit, climate controlled, and equipped with machines from 2021 or newer. Approximately 20% of the product comes into contact with food, so the plant follows strict food protocols, including requirements such as hair nets, beard nets where applicable, no jewelry, no press-on nails, no hoodies, and no ripped jeans. Metatarsal boots are required, and covers are not allowed. The role involves working in a production setting with exposure to hot and cold conditions and standard PPE requirements. The position is physically demanding, requiring regular lifting of 25-50 lbs (and heavier on occasion), frequent bending, climbing, and working on and around machinery. Shifts include 12-hour days (7 a.m.-7 p.m.), 12-hour nights (7 p.m.-7 a.m.), and an 8-hour first-shift opening for a high-level technician, providing structured, predictable schedules in a high-volume, multi-site plastics operation. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Warren, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr.
