Maintenance Technician Job Description This role requires an experienced industrial maintenance technician with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment. You will work in a fast-paced, 24/7 production facility, using mechanical, electrical, and fabrication skills to keep production equipment operating reliably. The position focuses on troubleshooting, repairing, installing, aligning, and setting up mechanical and electrical systems, including motor control systems, to support continuous production operations. Responsibilities Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment to restore proper operation. Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly and operate efficiently in a 24/7 production environment. Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance tasks by following established checklists. Use a range of tools, including hand and power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical and electronic testing devices, to diagnose and repair equipment. Assemble, install, and repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and production equipment. Diagnose mechanical problems and determine corrective actions by consulting blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as needed. Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose issues, and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other moving parts. Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts using hoists, forklifts, hand tools, and power tools. Plan and lay out repair work by interpreting diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, and schematic diagrams. Submit parts orders and repair reports accurately and efficiently to support maintenance planning and documentation. Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments using hand tools and metering equipment to ensure proper operation. Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to perform necessary repairs and fabrication work. Safely meet the physical demands of working in an industrial maintenance environment, including standing, climbing, lifting, and working around machinery. For mechanically inclined technicians, troubleshoot industrial machinery, including gears, motors, rollers, printing presses, gluers, and formers, and perform light welding as needed. For electrically inclined technicians, perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot PLC-controlled systems (including Siemens platforms), work with limit switches, read electrical schematics, and interpret ladder logic. Work effectively as part of a maintenance team, communicate clearly with colleagues and leadership, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment. Essential Skills Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance background in a fast-paced production setting. Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical systems, including drives, motors, belts, gears, and rollers. Experience performing preventive maintenance on production machinery, including inspections, lubrication, and component replacement. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electrical/electronic testing devices safely and effectively. Skill in assembling, installing, and repairing wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, and equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, drawings, maintenance manuals, parts catalogs, schematic diagrams, and electrical schematics. Experience with PLC troubleshooting (not programming), including familiarity with Siemens platforms and ladder logic. Capability to perform electrical troubleshooting, including working with limit switches and motor control systems. Basic welding ability for mechanically focused candidates (MIG, TIG, or stick) to support equipment repair and fabrication. Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis on equipment failures for electrically focused candidates. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured maintenance procedures and checklists. Ability to meet the physical requirements of industrial maintenance work, including working safely around machinery and equipment. Willingness and ability to work 8- or 12-hour shifts, including 1st or 3rd shift as assigned in a 24/7 operation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with printing presses, gluers, formers, gears, and rollers is a plus. Experience working with industrial machinery in a continuous production environment. Ability to bring and effectively use personal tools appropriate for industrial maintenance work. Comfort working with hoists, forklifts, and other material handling equipment to dismantle and move machinery components. Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate in a maintenance and production environment. Detail-oriented approach to troubleshooting, documentation, and reporting. Comfortable troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical issues depending on primary specialization. Union environment experience is helpful but not required. Why Work Here?
