Maintenance Technician Job Description This role offers the opportunity to work with a high degree of independence performing preventive maintenance and complex repairs on a diverse fleet of vehicles and material handling equipment. You will diagnose and repair advanced systems across multiple OEM platforms, including diesel and alternative fuel technologies, while using modern diagnostic tools and maintaining accurate service documentation. Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on a diverse fleet including automobiles, light- and heavy-duty trucks, vans, trailers, forklifts, electrical vehicles, and material handling equipment. Work with a high degree of independence to plan, prioritize, and complete assigned maintenance and repair tasks. Perform advanced diagnostics across multiple OEM platforms such as Volvo, International, Freightliner, Maxon, electrical vehicles, and material handling equipment. Execute high-level repairs including engine and driveline work, after-treatment and emissions systems, and vehicle safety systems. Adapt, develop, and expand repair and maintenance capabilities for alternative fuel applications such as electric vehicles, compressed natural gas (CNG), and B100. Diagnose failures in vehicles and systems, disassemble components, repair or replace parts, and reassemble units to proper specifications. Focus primarily on air brake and hydraulic systems, performing inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure safe and reliable operation. Use diagnostic equipment and software platforms to identify faults, verify repairs, and document findings. Perform trailer maintenance, including inspection, repair, and adjustment of structural, mechanical, and braking components. Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to guide diagnostics and repairs as needed. Maintain accurate documentation and records, including vehicle service records, pre-trip checklists, and maintenance logs. Follow established safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment during all maintenance activities. Handle and operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely, including meeting any required driving skills tests where applicable. Support continuous improvement by sharing technical knowledge, participating in ongoing training, and adopting new tools and technologies. Ensure work areas, tools, and equipment remain clean, organized, and in good working condition. Essential Skills At least 2 years of diesel maintenance experience, including work on class 6-8 diesel vehicles. Hands-on experience working on brake systems, including hydraulic and air brakes. Hydraulic system maintenance and troubleshooting experience. Trailer maintenance experience, including inspection and repair. Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices for fleet vehicles and equipment. Ability to use diagnostic equipment and platforms such as Noregon, Snap-on, Nexiq, Altel, or similar tools. Experience performing after-treatment and emissions repairs on class 6-8 diesel vehicles. Experience performing driveline repairs on class 6-8 diesel vehicles. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documentation. Brakes Certification. EPA 609 Certification. Ability to provide and use personal basic hand tools required for the role. Capability to perform physical movements including lifting, pinching, bending, reaching, climbing, and handling objects (with or without an accommodation). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with or without an accommodation). Ability to pass a Forklift Driving Skills test, if applicable. At least 18 years of age. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with alternative fuel technologies such as electric vehicles, CNG, and B100. Experience maintaining and repairing material handling equipment and forklifts. Comfort working with a high degree of independence and accountability. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. CDL is a plus; support is available for obtaining a CDL in the future.
