Maintenance Superintendent Leadership Role

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support second shift maintenance supervisors and maintenance technicians, ensuring effective team performance.
  • Implement and train new supervisors and hourly employees on maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance (PM) for equipment to minimize production downtime.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on employee relations and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Monitor and enforce employee safety and ergonomic practices in compliance with company standards.
  • Manage and delegate preventative maintenance programs, ensuring all work orders are completed on schedule.
  • Schedule and verify completion of preoperational testing and inspection of equipment prior to production start.
  • Inspect and evaluate the operating condition of all equipment in assigned areas, maintaining written schedules and reports for evaluations and repairs.
  • Conduct weekly maintenance progress and safety meetings with direct reports, providing written documentation of discussions and action items.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to its full capability for tracking and reporting maintenance activities.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance tasks as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance management experience.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience, with experience managing supervisors preferred.
  • Familiarity with SQF and HACCP standards.
  • Experience in the meat industry (poultry, beef, or pork) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills.
  • Ability to perform hands-on maintenance work as needed.
