Description
The Hybrid Custodian and Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, functionality, and safety of Citizens facilities across assigned locations. This role blends routine custodial duties with advanced maintenance and repair tasks, requiring strong customer service skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to work independently. The technician ensures a clean, professional environment while supporting building operations, system performance, and emergency response needs.
Responsibilities
Custodial & Facilities Support
- Perform routine cleaning of designated facility areas including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and cleaning ceiling vents.
- Restock supplies and maintain cleanliness standards across office and branch environments.
- Conduct routine facility inspections to identify cleaning, safety, or repair needs and address or escalate accordingly.
- Execute periodic deep-cleaning tasks and special projects as scheduled.
- Support small office furniture moves and internal relocations.
Maintenance & Technical Repair
- Perform preventive maintenance and corrective repair on buildings, equipment, industrial systems, grounds, and vehicles as needed.
- Utilize multiple trade skillsincluding carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and basic roofingto address facility issues.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and monitor building systems (HVAC, plumbing, lighting, fire alarms) to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
- Maintain and repair lighting systems, including ballast and element replacements.
- Complete assigned work orders, estimate time and materials, and update records using the CMMS/iPad system.
- Respond quickly to emergency situations and escalate or request additional support when appropriate.
- Oversee work performed by outside vendors (landscaping, snow removal, HVAC, plumbing, janitorial, etc.) to ensure quality and compliance.
Operational & Administrative Duties
- Maintain inventory of supplies, tools, and materials; purchase replacements at best available cost.
- Manage an energy efficiency program to reduce operating costs where applicable.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in adherence with codes, regulations, and company procedures.
- Communicate professionally with internal customers, leaders, and vendors.
- Close out work orders accurately with minimal callbacks.
Qualifications
- 1 or more years of janitorial and light carpentry experience required; 4+ years of maintenance, trades, or related technical experience preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Additional certifications in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, or related trades preferred but not required
- Demonstrated ability to interpret written instructions, document work, and communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to work under pressure and prioritize workload.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.).
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, stooping, climbing ladders, and lifting 50+ pounds.
- Ability to travel as needed between assigned locations.
Hours & Work Schedule
- Hours per Week: 40 (Overtime as needed)
- Schedule: MondayFriday
- Specific shift hours may vary based on location or operational need.
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $58,000.00-71,000.00 per year. Actual pay is based on various factors including but not limited to the budget, work location, and relevant skills and experience.
