Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary With direction from the Zone Manager and Working Supervisor, the Mechanic works with a team multi-craft mechanics to perform routine and emergency multi-craft maintenance tasks for campus facilities. Additionally, the mechanic works closely with internal customers including students, faculty and staff to resolve requested maintenance issues and work orders.

We are seeking candidates specialized in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general multi-craft maintenance.

This position is a member of the collective bargaining unit, Local #148 International Union of Operating Engineers, AFL-CIO.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM-4:15 PM. Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining equipment and systems in order to support the teaching and research mission of the University.
  • Proactively identifying, communicating, prioritizing and addressing needs without direction when appropriate.
  • Responding to work orders and other requests in a timely, efficient, competent, knowledgeable and friendly manner.
  • Maintaining data per departmental policy.
  • Utilizing materials, supplies, tools and other University property in a safe, productive manner.
  • Works in multi-craft positions/situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be willing to provide one's own hand tools; be available for emergencies after normal work hours.

Physical Effort

  • Capable of doing extensive walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. and other similar physical activity.

  • Typically bending, crouching, stooping.
  • Using tools requiring high dexterity.
  • Frequent lifting 25 lbs or more.

  • Must be able to obtain a Missouri Class E Drivers License by the end of the probationary period and cannot drive University owned vehicles until Class E Drivers License is obtained.
