Alila Napa Valley is a Forbes 4-Star luxury resort nestled in the heart of wine country. We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Shift Engineer to join our Engineering team. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity, safety, and functionality of our property's guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house systems. The ideal candidate will possess a well-rounded technical skillset and a proactive approach to troubleshooting during swing shifts, nights, and weekends.
The hourly wage we reasonably expect to pay for this position is $25.00-$30.00.

Core Functions\:
The Shift Engineer I will be responsible for swing shift, night and weekend coverage, therefore must possess strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance in guest rooms meeting space, and front of the house areas. The candidate should possess basic knowledge of equipment located in the back-of-house areas including pool, kitchen, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
A strong working knowledge of all major building systems, including life-safety systems, is required for this position. Good communication skills are necessary.
Responsibilities also include\:
Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs in guest rooms, public areas, and operational areas
Troubleshoot and repair equipment across multiple systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems
Conduct regular inspections and ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently
Maintain knowledge of pool systems, kitchen equipment, and general building operations
Complete all maintenance requests, work orders, and HotSOS tickets promptly and to Forbes standards
Communicate effectively with guests and colleagues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations
Support the Engineering team in preventative maintenance programs and special projects
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and Hyatt standards
Collaborate cross-departmentally to maintain a seamless guest experience
Adhere to Hyatt's Core Values while maintaining a positive, guest-focused attitude
- Minimum 1 year of building maintenance experience in hospitality or a related field
- Proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and painting
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Prior hotel or resort experience preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics preferred
- Basic computer proficiency, including Windows-based systems and mobile work order applications
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently
- Availability to work swing shift, nights, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements\:
- Ability to stand for extended periods (entire shift) and move throughout the property both inside and outside in varied environmental conditions, frequent bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders
- Capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds as needed, 150 pounds assisted
- Frequent use of computer systems, phones, tablets, radios, and standard office equipment
- Must be able to work in a front-of-house environment with guest interaction
