Maintenance Repairman 1 (Seasonal) - Codorus State Park

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is seeking a Maintenance Repairman 1 who enjoys hands-on work and being outdoors. This role offers a chance to learn many different skills while helping keep Codorus State Park in great condition. Every day brings new tasks that make the park safer and more welcoming for visitors. This position supports Codorus State Park by performing maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across park buildings, facilities, and equipment. The work involves a variety of hands-on duties that help keep the park safe, clean, and operating effectively. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Building Repairs: Make apprentice level repairs to park buildings using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and related tools
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain vehicles, mowers, and other equipment used throughout the park
  • Grounds Maintenance: Mow grass, trim vegetation, plant trees and shrubs, and prepare new turf areas
  • Facility Upkeep: Clean picnic areas, maintain restrooms and buildings, and repair tables, grills, and signs
  • Material Handling: Load, move, and transport materials using dump trucks or pickup trucks
  • Outdoor Labor: Dig ditches, clean culverts, cut firewood, clear brush, and assist with general outdoor tasks

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal full-time employment, typically works about 8 months per year.
  • This position does not provide health care benefits, nor the option to buy into group health care benefits.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. Days will vary. Position will work five days per week, 37.5 hours weekly, for seven-day operation. Must be available weekends and holidays.
  • This position may work evenings, weekends, and holidays as workload and emergency situations warrant.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C non-commercial driver's license.
