Equipment Mechanic I - II

at State of Delaware in Newark, Delaware, United States Job Description Entry level mechanic reporting to a technical supervisor. Assignments require evaluation and analysis and are carried out in accordance with standard trade practices. This level diagnoses and trouble-shoots equipment malfunctions, makes determinations of problems and effectively repairs a variety of vehicles and equipment, which may be unique to the agency, including: pick-up trucks with diesel engines; small tools, 2-stroke engines and equipment including chain saws, lawn mowers, weed eaters; as well as heavy duty diesel trucks and equipment with air brakes and hydraulic systems. This position must be available to work overtime as needed, and during storm events and other emergency events on short notice, and in some cases no advance notice.
