Maintenance Operations Mechanic

Position Summary
The Maintenance Operations Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving manufacturing, packaging, facility, HVAC, electrical, and automated production equipment. This role supports safe, efficient, and compliant operations through preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, electrical troubleshooting, and facility support while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing, packaging, HVAC, refrigeration, and facility equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automated systems.
Maintain and troubleshoot PLCs, operator interfaces, variable frequency drives (VFDs), servomotors, encoders, and electrical control systems.
Diagnose and repair electrical components including breakers, relays, starters, fuses, switches, thermostats, wiring, and control circuits.
Maintain HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment.
Conduct equipment changeovers, installations, upgrades, and system improvements to support production goals.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
Perform equipment inspections, major overhauls, and root cause analysis to minimize downtime.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance tasks.
Collaborate with operations, production, maintenance teams, contractors, and vendors to coordinate repairs and equipment availability.
Ensure compliance with safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, GMP standards, and company policies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Assist with training and mentoring less experienced maintenance personnel.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience in industrial maintenance, manufacturing, facilities maintenance, HVAC, electrical systems, or related fields.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automated equipment systems.
Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions.
Experience reading electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
Basic computer proficiency and maintenance documentation skills.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Journeyman Electrical License, HVAC License, EPA Certification, or equivalent technical certifications.
Experience with PLCs, automation systems, and industrial controls.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work in varying indoor and outdoor environments.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as needed.
Ability to safely work around moving machinery, electrical systems, chemicals, steam, and other industrial environments.
